"Talk of the town"

If Mar J0NATHAN WESTERNG is an amazing young man. HeÉbegan broadcasting continuous jazz on his own radio station, FM 100.1, with a tiny transmitter in his closet. It's computer-operated, one- tenth of a watt in power. Its range was three or four blocks from Jonathan's closet on Bee Street. He has installed repeaters in Old Town and on the houseboats, to provide community-wide coverage. If he exceeded one-tenth of a watt, he would need a license.

Where, does he get the music? From his own collection, from purchases and donations. It's all jazz, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Jonathan also records our Friday evening jazz concerts in the park and broadcasts them at 3pm and 8 p.m. the following Monday. If you want to donate music or help, his phone is 332.5299.

Jonathan has a tiny recording studio on Caledonia Street. He has recorded promotional bits by Mayor PAUL ALBRITTON, CHARLIE MERRILL, and yours truely. We talked about my doing a bit, saying, "When I'm not out there making oogle-eyes with KATE O'HARA, I'm at home dancing with Kate O'Hara and listening to Radio Sausalito!" Kate knows half the people in town. Jonathan decided the other half might be confused.
